Sandra Mendoza is a committed and experienced community leader. Sandra has helped improve local schools, increase public safety and has helped improve the lives of working people. Sandra knows what our community needs because she is a long time resident of the community she seeks to represent.
Sandra has been part of the district for over 30 years. Sandra has been active on many issues that have made our lives better and safer. From mentoring young women, to working to improve public education, to reducing crime and helping working people. Sandra is an experienced and committed professional who can lead from Day One. Her community work includes:
*A former boardmember of the Pico Union Neighborhood Council, as well as the East L.A. Boys and Girls Club, the local Community Police Advisory Board and the State Bar's Committee of Bar Examiners
*A current board member of the Monsignor Oscar Romero Charter Middle School in Pico Union (the charter schools Board for the Youth Policy Institute)
*Has organized Earth Day in the district, and advocated in Sacramento for pocket parks and other environmental issues affecting the district
*Has worked for labor (organizing new workers)
*Has served on numerous community based organizations
*Has worked in the private sector, primarily in the fashion industry
Sandra is currently a program manager for the City of Los Angeles. She attended UCLA's Anderson School of Business. She is a mother, and a grandmother. She grew up in the Westlake part of the district and currently lives in the Pico Union area.
Who better to work for us in Sacramento than someone who is already a committed leader in our community? It is time to stop the Sacramento musical chairs that put politics above the district's interest.
